Our Relationship With God

The Lord has established His throne in the heavens; and His sovereignty rules over all.      Psalm 103:19

It is very difficult, as the created one, to get your arms around the Creator… I am not sure that it is even possible.  But we can begin to see the greatness and expanse of what God has created.  Stop reading right now and go watch the YouTube video from Francis Chan (Glory of God)

We serve a big God who is more than capable of handling anything that life might throw at you.

It is possible for a person to contend that a poem is nothing but black marks on white paper.  And such an argument might be convincing before an audience that could not read.  You can examine the print under a microscope or analyze the paper and ink but you will never find something behind this sort of analysis that you could call "a poem.”  Those who can read, however, will continue to insist that poems exist.

The greatest single distinguishing feature of the omnipotence of God is that our imagination gets lost when thinking about it.

                                                        Blaise Pascal, Pensees

My concern is not whether God is on our side; my great concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.

Men are never duly touched and impressed with a conviction of their insignificance, until they have contrasted themselves with the majesty of God.

                                                        R.C. Sproul, Holiness of God

The core problem isn’t the fact that we’re lukewarm, halfhearted, or stagnant Christians.  The crux of it all is why we are this way, and it is because we have an inaccurate view of God.  We see Him as a benevolent Being who is satisfied when people manage to fit Him into their lives in some small way.  We forget that God never had an identity crisis.  He knows that He’s great and deserves to be the center of our lives.  Jesus came humbly as a servant, but He never begs us to give Him some small part of ourselves.  He commands everything from His followers.
